How does The m of men lead lives of quiet desperation What is called resignation is confirmed desperation r?

"The m of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation." is a quote from Walden by the Transcendentalist Henry David Thoreau. The work is part personal declaration of independence, social experiment, voyage of spiritual discovery, and manual for self reliance. The work details Thoreau's experiences over the course of two years in a cabin he built near Walden Pond, amidst woodland owned by his friend and mentor Ralph Waldo Emerson, near Concord, Machusetts. This quote basically means that most people lead lives feeling a sense of desperation, for one reason or another, due to the despair that life drives them to with the many troubles it brings. They may seem as if they have just accepted it (ie resignation), but this is just a euphemism for their despair. Im not sure what the rest of your question is, but here is a link to the Walden wikipedia page which might help: a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walden" rel="nofollow"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walden/a and an ysis of the quote: a href="http://www.kenkifer.com/Thoreau/economy.htm" rel="nofollow"http://www.kenkifer.com/Thoreau/economy.…/a
