To adults only: has it become the accepted thing now to have a baby without benefit of marriage?

Every day I read about celebrities getting pregnant, having babies and none of them are married. Some, along with their fiances, describe their joy at having a baby, but it seems to me, old fashioned though I must be, that wouldn't it be better to be married so that the child has a legitimate name and wouldn't you want the support of a husband during this time. Nicole Richie is so happy, so is her fiance. Now another star has revealed that he impregnated some one. Am I the only one who thinks this is stupid?
